If you're using frozen tuna steaks, then take from freezer, lay out individually on large plate – cover if necessary and put in fridge overnight

Get cooking implements ready:

One large and one medium saucepan; Spatula to turn tuna steaks on grill; Grater; Fruit squeezer/juicer; Large cup; Large shallow glass dish with lid or cover for marinading tuna

Get serving implements ready:

One large serving bowl for potatoes; One medium serving bowl for beans; Colander for draining veg; Three serving spoons

Get eating implements ready:

Large plates; Wine glasses; Cutlery

Make sure ingredients are all to hand:

Lemon; Black pepper; Olive oil; Soy sauce; Garlic clove; Tuna; Potatoes; Green beans; Kitchen foil

Grate half the rind of the lemon; Keep rind aside

Halve the lemon; Squeeze juice out of both halves; Keep juice aside

In a cup mix together the lemon juice and lemon rind

Into the cup add: A couple of grinds of black pepper; 3 tablespoons of olive oil; 2 teaspoons of light soy sauce; 1 clove of crushed garlic

Thoroughly mix together the ingredients in the cup and then pour into a large shallow glass dish (big enough for the for steaks to all sit flat)

Dredge the steaks on one side and then the other in the marinade a few times

Cover the tuna steaks and put into the fridge

Put 3 pints (1½l) fresh water into the large saucepan to boil

Wash and scrub 900g (2lb) potatoes, and cut up any larger ones

Turn over tuna steaks to marinade other side and re-cover in fridge

Put potatoes into large saucepan to cook

Put 2 pints (1l) fresh water into the medium saucepan to boil

Remove from fridge, and wrap each tuna steak in kitchen foil (shiny side inward: spoon marinade into each packet before wrapping)

Put 200g (7oz) frozen green beans into medium saucepan to cook
